Loft in Milan

LOFT, INTERIOR DESIGN, MILAN, LOMBARDY, ITALY

ABOUT
THIS PROJECT
Located in the Navigli area of Milan, on the ground floor of a disused former industrial building, this small loft of about 50 square meters has been entirely redesigned to meet the needs of a young professional couple. We worked closely with them to recover this fascinating environment in the best possible way and to transform it into the home they wanted, characterized by a modern and minimalist design, played on the contrast between black and white without neglecting the recovery of elements of the industrial tradition.
WHAT
WE DID IT
the renovation of this small space, we worked on the complete redefinition of its layout to make it more functional to the needs of our customers, in compliance with the constraints imposed for the historic industrial building visible from the street. We took advantage of the double height of the building to create a new attic, above which the sleeping area is located, directly overlooking the living area through a fifth glazed ramp recovered from the former workshop; the two rooms are connected by a suspended staircase with steel rods which helps to emphasize even more the exceptional nature of this space.
HOW
WE DID IT
In the new layout, the period imprint is testified by the choice of finishes that recall industrial design, such as the choice of dark iron furniture elements or the fifth window that separates the bedroom; from this original inspiration a decorative project is launched which is expressed above all in the contrasting game between black and white, a characterizing element of this space. As for the furnishings, we opted for a balanced mix of design and low cost pieces, without neglecting some lively ideas, such as, for example, in the fabric that covers the sofa.
