Vancouver House

A young Canadian professional couple with four children needed to renovate
completely home in Victoria, a city close to Vancouver in the Canadian province of
British Columbia. They wanted to demolish their old house to make way for a bigger and more modern one
almost 420 square meters on three floors. This new house was supposed to respond not only to the current needs of
this big family, but also to future ones, when the children are gone,
considering the possibility of dividing it into independent units to rent. Plus the house should have
host an independent apartment where the couple’s parents will stay when they go to in the future
live with them.
Working on this project was interesting and stimulating. We took it in
considering all the needs of our customers and our team has elaborated them in a modern style,
in the interior spaces, but at the same time attentive, in the external style, to the Art sand Crafts architecture of the
neighborhood in which it stands. The living comfort and the functionality of the spaces were the guidelines for this
project, because we thought that these concepts were the best compromise to satisfy the
needs of this family in compliance with the construction rules.
We have developed a solution starting from some details suggested by ours
customers: large interior spaces, well lit, maximum occupable surface and privileged view towards the
garden. The house develops on three levels: a basement in which the service rooms and
recreational, including the garage; the ground floor is the main floor where the living area is located, with dining room
dining room, kitchen and living room and the sleeping area, with three bedrooms, one of which is master, all equipped with
bathrooms and wardrobes in the room; the upper floor houses two other bedrooms and common areas. In the future each
floor can be made independent and rentable as required. A small independent annex
for the couple’s parents it was created on the ground floor. The external appearance is characterized by a style
contemporary classic also highlighted by the combination of modern materials such as plaster with others
classic details such as the stone of the base or the wood of the shell. For the interior style we have
aimed at furnishings that are not too modern or minimalist, something simple and lasting, not excessively
sophisticated, in line with the requests of our customers.
